RCA 12AX7 tube for EQ.A double surprise! The RCA's that are older than me arrived yesterday.
They measure on the low side of good, but they still work. I installed them and let them warm up. What happened next was pure
magic. I listened to Mannheim Steamroller and was very impressed by the tonal quality with the new tubes.Just when I think
it can't get any better, it does. I think back to when I was 30, and how good I thought my system sounded then. There
is always room for improvement.

Another new Mic.Just what I need, another mic from EBay ($29). This one is a Shure
550L. However, it is a chocolate color. The mic cable is very good also. A quick look at the wiring diagram at Shure.com and
it is now on the Yaesu. I used it last night and got good reports (as if I didn't know I would).

New TubesLast night I was up late on 40 meters when the thought occurred
to me that my Behringer tube equalizer still has the original tubes in it. How could I have overlooked that? A quick trip
to EBay has rectified that situation. A matched pair of RCA 12ax7's from 1950 & 52 are on the way. They were only 25 dollars.
I have several EH 12ax7's, but I have found that the older U.S., British, and German made tubes have a tone to them that is
darn near unbeatable. I can hardly wait. The mail will probably be a little slow because of the holidays coming up.

The Magic of the InternetThis world of Internet communication is amazing. Several days
ago I typed in the maiden name of some one I haven't seen in over 35 years. The picture of a pretty young woman came up on
Face Book. She looked a lot like the person I was searching for. I sent a message asking if she was related to the older woman.
She replied that she was her niece. She was kind enough to take the time to inform me on how the woman, and her sisters, are
doing. Just 15 years ago, this could have never occurred.
