Waiting on PizzaJust another lazy Saturday afternoon. The wife is painting one of
the bedrooms. Papa Murphy's has a special with all pizzas, all sizes, for 10 bucks. Got one in the oven right now. The wife bought
the Blu-Ray of the movie Sherlock Holmes, so will watch that while stuffing the pie hole with pizza. I think I will try to
work some RTTY DX later. Crank out about 400W and see what I get.

Microphone adventuresI got a heck of a deal on EBay this past week. I
purchased an E. F. Johnson microphone for 10 bucks. The microphone is really a Shure 550T in disguise. However, it need 13
volts to operate and the radio mic connection only supplies 5V. I just by-passed the internal amp and use it non-amplified.
It what I like anyway. It works great and drives the radio easily. So now I have a Shure 550L with Johnson on it, for $10.
I also wanted another mic for the Kenwood 520. I took an Astatic 877L, found an old audio transformer in my junk box, and
now have a high impedance mic for the Kenwood. It made clunking sounds when keyed and un-keyed it, so I glued thin felt inside
the housing to stop that. No more clunks. The total cost of that mic was $7.50. Both microphones sound excellent. I really
enjoy screwing around with microphones and seeing what I can come up with. I also changed and improved the microphone
sound bites on the Random Things page.
