05/01/09- New speaker cables. Bought new speaker wires yesterday. They are
by Audioquest, the X-2. Installed using gold-plated connectors and solder with a high silver content. WOW! They are much more
musical than the Monster Cable, with better definition, especially in the mids and highs. I liked listening so much I'm
afraid I drank about 8 beers and the wife wasn't too pleased. Gave me a little lecture over coffee this AM. Yeah she's
right, but I rarely drink that much, and won't again for a long while. Anywho, The wires only cost 137 so it was a steal.

42 degrees this Am, and someone says " Spring is here at
last!". Good grief! Have they no concept of what good weather really is? The wife and daughter are in Las Vegas. They
called me last night and told me how much fun they're having and how nice the Luxor hotel is. Well, it's overcast. cold, and
lonesome here. I think I'll drink some beer today and listen to the tubes. I just read a review on the Vincent 236MK and my
curiosity has been stirred. It's about 2k in price. That's about 6 to 7 hundred more than the Cayin. Also, it's amp
section is SS. I don't know, I may not get anything since the ASL, with the mods, is sounding better every time.
However, I am growing weary of the problems with the PAS-3. I think the filter caps may need replacing as a very slight hum
is beginning to creep in. It doesn't affect the sound, but I know it's there and I can't tolerate it.
