YAK YAK YAK  Why anyone would want to read this is beyond me.

July 18, 2017--- During the past nine months I have made upgrades to my audio system. I replaced the AQ King Cobra interconnects with AQ Columbia. A noticable better difference. Tung-Sol tubes are now in the amp and I like their musicallity. Also, AQ Gibraltar bi-wire speaker cable replaced the Kimber 8TC. They have better definition, but are a little laid back. My system now sounds better than I've ever had. I suppose replacing the amp may be the next step up. Anyway, I'm basically happy with the changes and plan to enjoy what I've got for a while. Roll Tide!

 New monitor
New monitor installed. It's much better than the Samsung. I hope it lasts longer than eight months. New tubes still breaking in. Last thursday I gave them a good workout (and drank too much). They sound so natural, it's hard to describe.

 Electronics do go bad.
My 22 inch Samsung monitor went bad today. Had to pull out the old 17 inch for a temp fix. I can't take the small screen so I ordered an Asus 23.6 inch from Newegg for 189 and free S&H. It might be here by Saturday. It's just as well. The Samsung would only do 1680 x 1050, and the new one will do 1920 x 1080. My video card will do the better resolution  so I now will have the same as the wife and son.

Hot Damn!! The KT77's and clear-top RCA 12au7's are installed and blowing my mind. How could there be that much difference from what was already excellent. The intriguing aspect is that the KT77's are not even broken-in yet. The bass is deeper and richer. The highs are more detailed and extended. The mid-range is (did someone slip me a mickey) absolutely gorgeous. Who needs drugs to get high? All I need is this. WOW! This is what makes the hobby worth it. I have never had this good of sound reproduction in my home before. If I sound like I'm on cloud 9, I am. I'm listening to Frank sing Cole Porter's "Night and Day" right now as I type. The song says it all. The difference between the previous tubes and these is night and day.

 New tubes
Just bought 4 RCA black plate 12au7 tubes on Ebay. Only 29.00 + 6.00 S&H. They will replace the RCA grey plate tubes in the ASL amplifier.

 FOOTBALL!!
At Last! College football starts again. Alabama and Va. Tech tonight. Two HD TV's, side by side, and ready to go. The XYL  is in Texas for the weekend, so nothing to do except pick up the dog poop and watch football. Got chips, dip, and my favorite orange soda. I probably won't stop till midnight, unless I drink beer, Then I will get sleepy early. Is this better than sex? NO!  But still pretty darn good. Decided to stop overclocking my computer. Seems to run better that way. I think it was pushing the clock from 200 to 220 that gave erratic results sometimes. The Ram and processor had no problem with it. Hey, dual 2.8's is fast enough for what I do.
